Reviewed: Comfort4Men C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights

Comfort4Men is a leading men's hosiery brand in Europe. Their tights for men are made in Germany to the highest standards. They are tights that are specifically designed to provide an excellent fit and level of comfort for the male anatomy.

We have previously reviewed several styles of Comfort4Men men's tights at Hosiery For Men, including:

40 Denier Men's Support Tights

60 Denier Luxury Men's Tights

70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights

80 Denier Opaque Men's Tights

50 Denier Luxury Men's Tights

100 Denier Men's Footless Tights

We also recently provided Hosiery For Men readers with news about the innovative Silver Textile products that Comfort4Men have launched.

We now focus on the C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights. These tights are part of Comfort4Men's extensive range of opaque tights for men. If there is another brand that provides such an extensive range as this, I have yet to hear of it. Comfort4Men produce so many styles now that we are really spoilt for choice.

The C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights are available in high-waist and low-waist styles. My preference is usually for the high-waist style in Comfort4Men tights. These provide plenty of room for me in the brief and abdominal area and ensure the tights stretch well above the waist.

With every pair of Comfort4Men tights that you order, there is always an absolutely huge range of features and choices that can be made.

As well as being available in high-waist and low-waist styles, the C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights are available in six colours. You can also choose to have them made with the gusset in Black or Skin colour. Finally, they are also available with or without a fly opening. That makes, if my calculation is correct, a possible 48 possible permutations, even without size options being included!

The sample provided to me had the following features:

  • High waist
  • Colour: Indigo
  • Gusset colour: Silver
  • Fly opening: Yes
  • Size: 6
Materials and features
The C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights are packaged in the customary Comfort4Men style: a card enclosure wrapped in a cellophane sleeve.

The tights are made from made from 90% Polyamide and 10% Elastane.

Comfort4Men say: 'You will be thrilled with the softness of this material!'

They are absolutely correct there. These tights are amazingly soft; one of the softest styles of opaque tights I have ever tried.

The fabric is 70 denier, but in appearance these tights look more like 100 denier. Opaque coverage is dense and even throughout. When worn the fabric has a slight shine.

This style is sheer to waist with flat seams throughout, engineered to the usual high Comfort4men standard. The brief has a rear comfort panel. The waistband is 3.5cm wide. Toes have almost invisible reinforcement.

This style has the signature Comfort4Men-designed gusset that has been created to provide maximum comfort for the male anatomy. To enable me to test and evaluate the new Silver Textile gusset, Comfort4Men included this in the tights sample that they provided.

The gusset, shown above, was very comfortable. I have never come across a material like this before in men's underwear. It is far superior to the cotton materials that are normally used in men's briefs and feels very smooth and soft on the skin.

The fly opening (should you chose for it to be included) is extremely well-designed and also easy to use. One could wear these tights without any underwear underneath.

Fit and sizing

The C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights are available in three sizes: 4, 5 and 6.

The fit was excellent. The fabric used moulds and clings to the legs like a second skin. There is no wrinkling or bunching.

As mentioned above these tights are very, very soft to the touch and this provides a very pleasant, comfortable feeling when worn.

The high waist version, that I tested, has a very generous brief. The waistband provided good support, without any pinching.

The slightly shiny quality to the fabric provides excellent glide under trousers.

As mentioned above, Comfort4Men provided me with a special version of these tights with the silver gusset included. This gusset was very comfortable indeed and provided excellent support for the male anatomy.

Colour range

The C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights are available in six colours:
  • Black
  • Dark Brown
  • Indigo
  • Kobalt
  • Nature
  • Navy
I tested a pair in the Indigo colour, a warm, bright blue.

Price and availability
The C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights are priced at €38.80 plus shipping. Shipping rates vary depending on the destination.

For countries outside of the European Union, German value added tax is not payable. This is removed automatically during the order process.

If you purchase these tights in the low-waist version, the price is €37.80.

Conclusion
I was really impressed with these tights, particularly the fabric which is just so soft and comfortable. I like them so much I would like to get a pair in every colour!

I wore the C405M 70 Denier Opaque Men's Tights several times before writing up this review and was also pleased how durable they are.

These are quite simply top quality men's tights, made with expertise and attention to every detail.

Reviewed: Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights

UK Tights are one of the leading online hosiery retailers in the UK and always provide a very good service to their male customers. You can check the men's tights selection on their website.

You can also read Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of our feature on UK Tights and interview with managing director, Dawn Barber.

UK Tights has previously highly recommended The German-made Kunert brand tights to Hosiery For Men and have indicated that they have been a popular choice with male customers. On their website UK Tights have this to say about the brand:

"Kunert is what you might call a designers' designer. In the leg wear world, Kunert is incredibly well respected, more so than nearly any other brand we know of. Their work is heralded amongst leg wear lovers as some of the best around. Their products feel like a second skin and you can tell they are some of the best quality items around. This is really what makes a designer truly great. Their work seems natural and effortless, but in fact, there's heaps of effort and consideration behind each and every pair of tights that Kunert make. One of our favourite and most loved hosiery brands."

Kunert is an international company with its headquarters in Immenstadt Germany.

Kunert was found 1907 and stands for an established history of success and tradition. You can read an interesting history of the Kunert company on their website.

We recently reviewed a pair of the Kunert Leg Control 70 Support Tights, provided by UK Tights.

UK Tights also kindly sent us a pair of the Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights to trial and review.

Materials and features

The Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights are packaged in the same way at the Leg Control 70 Tights.

The tights are carefully folded around a central rectangular card. Everything is then housed in the card enclosure and wrapped in clear plastic envelope.

These tights feel very soft and silky.

They are actually 23 denier despite the '20' in the name. The fabric is 84% Polyamide and 16% Elastane (Lycra).

The Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights are sheer to waist and boarded, with a shaped heel and leg. Toes are reinforced.

Seams are flat throughout and beautifully finished.

The size V that I tested has a rear comfort gusset (size VI also has this feature). Sizes I to IV has a conventional cotton gusset.

The waistband is 3.5cm wide and has a 2cm finger band running below it.

Although this Kunert style feels extremely light in the hand, the tights also seem quite robust.

Fit and sizing
The Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights are available in five sizes: I, II, III, IV, V and VI.

I tested a pair in size V.

I am learning that Kunert are pretty expert in their sizing, and they should arguably be one of the first choices in hosiery for tall people.

If you are taller, I think you van really buy Kunert products with the confidence that a good fit will be obtained.

The size V was a perfect fit for my 5'10".

The legs are shaped to be slightly wider at the thigh and this really helps with the fit. There is plenty of stretch and the high Elastane content keeps everything in place without any wrinkling at any point.

Like the Leg Control 70 style, brief has plenty of room. The waistband is extremely comfortable and provides just the right amount of support.

I found this style especially comfortable under trousers, with the slight shine providing a good glide.

Colour range

The Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights are available in an impressive range of nine shades:
  • Black
  • Marine
  • Graphite
  • Grey
  • Espresso
  • Hasel
  • Bahama
  • Cashmere
  • Teint
I tested a pair in the Bahama shade.

Price and availability
At UK Tights the Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights are priced at: £8.99.

Conclusion
The Kunert Satin Look 20 Tights are superbly made and one can again see Kunert's attention to every detail.

Wonderfully comfortable to wear, and with a smooth luxurious feel.

For the quality here, I think the £8.99 is an absolute bargain.

I have just read the reviews of this style on UK Tights and people who have purchased them have left very positive opinions.

For taller men, this could be what you might be looking for. The V and VI sizes (XL and XXL respectively) both fit up to 6'1".

Thanks again to UK Tights for kindly providing the Kunert sample.

Reviewed: Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights

Stockings HQ sent us a pair of the Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights to review for Hosiery For Men readers.

Different is a new range from the Italian hosiery brand Oroblu. Stockings HQ also stock the Oroblu Different 15 ultra comfort sheer tights. The full Different range also includes Different 40 tights, Different 15 knee-highs and Different 80 knee-highs.

Materials and features

The Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights arrive in the high quality packaging that one expects from a premium brand such as Oroblu. The tights are wrapped around a high quality card that provides more information on the Different range, and are then enclosed in a plastic sleeve. Everything is then enclosed in a robust card envelope. the rear of the packaging provides further product and sizing information.

The Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights are made from 92% Polyamide and 8% Elastane.

Stockings HQ provides the following product description:

'The Different 80 denier tights give you maximum opaque coverage, for day or night, but the ‘difference’ comes in the numerous enhanced features. A slimming waistband that doesn’t dig in, a brief that follows your figure and contours the torso, legs that are shaped to cling, an invisible toe with intricate stitching that won’t rub, and a foot that remains in position. In classic black, these sublime quality Italian tights are the height of style, and will fit like no other hosiery you own.'

One can tell that this Oroblu style is top quality as soon as you remove them from the packaging. The fabric is beautifully soft with even matt coverage.

Seams are flat throughout. There is a cotton gusset.

Legs are shaped to provide a fit that follows the natural contour of the leg.

The brief is deep and comfortable, and it is in this area that Oroblu have developed a remarkable innovation. The waistband is higher at the back than normal, to follow the body shape more comfortably. The waistband is 9cm wide at the back and 5.5cm wide at the front. The aim of this design innovation is to ensure the waistband sits higher, but to also provide support without digging in and to stay perfectly positioned at all times.

Fit and sizing

The Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights are available in four sizes: S, M, L and XL. I tested the XL size.

The XL size was simple perfect for my 5'10". The fit was quite exceptional.

These tights are just so comfortable to wear. The fabric moulds itself to the legs with a snug fit at every point.

However it is the brief and waistband that is most impressive. The wide waistband sits comfortable above the hips, at a higher point than usual. If you are wearing the tights under jeans or trousers, as I do, be prepared for the waistband to be more visible than you are used to.

The waistband is easily the most comfortable I have ever experienced. There is no rolling over, just smooth support that keeps the waist and the tights in place. I found that the tights needed hardly any pulling up or adjusting even when worn all day.

Glide under trousers is very good despite the tights having very little sheen.

Colour range

The Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights are available in Black only, and that is also the shade that I tested.

Price and availability

The Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights are available from Stockings HQ for £15.50.

Delivery from Stockings HQ is free in the UK if you spend more than £50.00.

Conclusion

The Oroblu Different 80 Opaque Tights are the best opaque I have so far tried from Oroblu. I was really impressed with the Oroblu Chantal 120 Denier Opaque Tights that were reviewed recently. The Chantal are also a superb product and have a similar wide waistband, although slightly less wide than the Different 80 style.

The Chantal also have heavier opacity and are much warmer. The Different 80 has a lighter feel and is perfect for cooler days.

The Different 80 are really a faultless product and the technical and design team at Oroblu deserve praise for a genuine innovation in tights design.

It would be great to have the Different 80 in a wider range of colours: dark brown and charcoal shades would be a very welcome addition.

Recommended unreservedly.

Hosiery For Men interviewed by Mantyhose.ca

Hosiery For Men was recently interviewed by the Canadian-based blog Mantyhose.ca. Mantyhose.ca say they exist to 'help you get all the information you need about mantyhose/pantyhose for men'.

You can read the interview here on Manyhose.ca.

Do check out Manyhose.ca. You can also follow on Twitter: @manty_hose

I have also reproduced it below.

#1 – Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I have plenty of questions to you! What is your goal when creating your blog?

When I started Hosiery For Men there didn’t seem to be a blog that covered men’s tights and legwear in the way I wanted. There had been a legendary blog called Gerarden, that is sadly now defunct.

It provided reviews of the kind of tights that probably most men wear – tights that can be bought from supermarkets and department stores.

There seemed to be articles here and there, but nothing that provided regular reviews and news of the kind I wanted to read. So I decided to start Hosiery For Men.

#2 – Have you achieved some of the goals since it started?

Well it has been going for well over two years now and I feel that is an achievement. The blog has a pretty decent amount of content now, including a very large number of reviews and features. It is interesting to see that many of the older reviews and articles still get high numbers of page views.

I wasn’t sure in the first few months whether I could sustain enough content to keep the blog interesting and vibrant,. But I have been really surprised at how much there is to right about. I am constantly being sent samples for review, and there always seem to be new developments in the hosiery world to wrote about.

The blog also has a smaller readership of women, which is interesting. Well, Hosiery For Men reviews tights in probably more detail and more thoroughly than many similar websites aimed at women, so I am not surprised that they find it useful, especially if they are looking for information on tights for taller women or in plus sizes.

I am pretty sure that Hosiery For Men will be around for a good bit longer.

#3 – You have been interviewing many retailers and manufacturers. What is the global opinion and trend in terms of Mantyhose / Tights for men?

Well men have always worn tights. We invented them. One thing that is clear is that most retailers now realise that we are buying tights from them for ourselves and they need to take our needs seriously and provide excellent customer service. Online hosiery retailing is a crowded and competitive market and I don’t see how companies that want to be grow their share of the market can ignore men buying tights.

I have also learnt that although there are more and more men’s tights/mantyhose styles available, the quality isn’t always as good as it could be. Apart from Comfort4Men I have yet reviewed a men’s tights style that reaches the quality of say, Falke.

Also, many of the retailers and manufacturers of men's tights really need to up their game in marketing I feel.

For example, Hosiery For Men has a huge number of page views everyday, always in the high hundreds. It has a global readership. But some manufacturers don’t make contact or are really poor at communicating.

#4 – You are based in the UK, do you feel that Europe is actually one step forward in terms of acceptance of tights for men?

In the UK and other parts of northern Europe where we have cold winters, tights are definitely becoming more acceptable. There is also a growing trends of designers creating new styles and outfits for men, with tights incorporated. Check http://men-wearing-tights.tumblr.com for more on this trend.

It is interesting that apart from the excellent US-based Comfilon/Activskin, nearly all the other manufacturers of men’s tights are based in Europe, and particularly in Germany and eastern Europe (Poland, the Czech Republic etc.)

That might say something about demand and developing trends. Both Wolford and Gerbe have also made men’s tights in the past, but have both sadly discontinued.

#5 – Do you believe that the day will soon come in the UK where you can find pantyhose for men at your local retail store such as Boots?

No, I doubt that to be honest. Retailing tights for specialised parts of the market is and will remain online I believe.

However, you can find good quality, inexpensive opaque tights in Boots, Marks and Spencer and other UK stores. Lots of men will continue to buy tights from these outlets, and if they feel the tights meet their needs then I am sure they will continue.

#6 – You have been reviewing hundreds of products for men and women. At the end of the day, what would be your top three brand recommendations for men to wear? (We are talking about comfort, and worn on a regular basis).

My top three brands would be:

1. Comfort4Men – expensive, but so well-made and comfortable. They have been designed especially for men. I would urge everyone to give them a try. They are an investment but if looked after they last for ages.

2. Comfilon/Acvtivskin – the best range of sheer and opaque tights for men available, excellent range of sizes and unbeatable customer service. Try their Thermofabric Ribbed Light Support Tights to see just how good men’s tights can be.

Falke. A brand made for women. But what’s not to like? Absolutely top quality products, great fit, wonderful range of styles and available in Extra Large sizes. In the 1970s Falke also made a range of men’s tights. They are fully aware that their women’s tights are very popular indeed with men and I think that’s why they ensure that the larger sizes provide a generous fit, because they know that men are buying them. To me Falke are genuinely a unisex product.

#6 – What would be your advice for large pantyhose manufacturers that don’t carry products for men?

My advice would be to either consider developing a product for men, or develop existing products so they are more explicitly unisex.

#7 – Why do you think brands such as Levee or Gerbe that made a line of products specific to men didn’t succeed?

I’m not sure as I haven’t discussed it with them. However, the bottom line will always be sales.

If a product doesn’t sell enough then it won’t be continued for ever.

#8 – Are you in a relationship? If yes, is your partner accepting the fact that you wear pantyhose?

Yes, I am and yes she is!

#9 – What are your plans for the future?

I am going to sustain the blog. There are plenty of new reviews that are nearly ready, including for a new range of men’s tights from Germany from a manufacturer called Glamory.

If any readers have further ideas for content I would welcome them.

There are also plans to start retailing a range of men’s tights. I don’t want to say too much about it at this stage but this is definitely something that is being actively considered.

Hosiery For Men is sustained by hosiery retailers and manufacturers who generously provide us with samples for us to review. Readers can also support this blog by clicking on any of the advertisements displayed and checking out the products on offer. Each time you do this you are making a valuable contribution, and help ensure that Hosiery For Men continues. Thanks for your continued support.

Reviewed: Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights

Pantyhose HQ is the international sister site to Stockings HQ - the web's biggest dedicated stockings shop.

Pantyhose HQ kindly sent me a sample of the Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights.

Nylonica are a new brand to me. They are made in Italy and I was eager to trial them for Hosiery For Men readers.

Materials and features

The Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights are attractively packaged. The tights are folded over a plain white rectangular card. The rear and front of the main packaging is then folded over this. Everything is then housed in a clear plastic envelope.

According to the product description, these are:

'Sheer 20 denier microfibre tights that hug your legs like a second skin. A real experience to wear with Lycra 3D for the ultimate in fit and comfort.'

The Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights are made from 80% Nylon, 18% Lycra 3D and 2% Cotton.

The fabric is simply superb and luxuriously soft to the touch.

They look very small indeed as they are removed from the packaging but appearances can be deceptive. The stretch is simply amazing; perhaps the best I have ever seen in a pair of sheer tights.

Legs are straight and toes are reinforced. The tights are completely sheer to waist.

Seams are flat throughout and expertly constructed. There is an additional T band running either side of the central seam, and a further slightly denser band underneath the waistband. The waistband itself is 4cm wide and clearly designed to provide the maximum in comfort and support. As can be seen in the image below, the 4-XLarge size I tested also has a rear comfort panel.

Fit and sizing

The Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights are available in three sizes: 2-Medium, 3-Large and 4-XLarge.

I tested the 4-XLarge size, which according to the packaging fits up to 5'10".

As mentioned above, these tights look small but the high Lycra 3D content provides tremendous stretch and also a really superb fit.

If you put these tights on carefully they will fit beautifully and cling to your legs like a second skin. The sensation of wearing them is really something else.

There is no wrinkling or bunching at all, and the fabric simply moulds itself to every curve.

The brief has plenty of depth and pulls comfortably over the waist.

Appearance is matt with very little shine indeed.

Colour range

The Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights are available in an impressive thirteen colours: sand, air force blue, aqua, baby pink, scarlet, black, deep lilac, burgundy, baby blue, noisette, rose pink, royal blue and turquoise.

I tested a pair in the Sand shade.

Price and availability

The Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights are available from Pantyhose HQ for just USD$10.58. This is a 25% reduction this week on the usual price of USD$14.12.

They are also available from Stockings HQ for £8.21. Delivery is free in the UK if you spend more than £50.00.

Conclusion
The Nylonica Linea Lusso microfibre 20 tights are a really superb product. I just looked up the Italian word 'lusso' and it means 'luxury'. Well that is exactly what you get here: a genuinely luxury product that is beautifully designed and engineered.

The fit and comfort of these tights is up there with any brand the best I have tested previously. But it's the incredibly smooth, quite sensual fabric that earns the highest marks. It hugs the skin perfectly and the feel is quite remarkable.

The price for tights of this quality is more than reasonable. I would say that they are a real bargain. Highly recommended.

Reviewed: Silky 140 Denier Thermal Fleece Tights

Thighs the Limit is a hosiery store in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, which also has an online store. Many of their customers are men buying tights for themselves and they are keen to provide a good service to male customers.

As part of developing interest amongst passing shoppers, Thighs the Limit often has a man in tights outside the shop on Saturdays.

Thighs the Limit recently sent Hosiery For Men a sample of the Silky 140 Denier Thermal Fleece Tights.

Materials and features

The Silky 140 Denier Thermal Fleece Tights are packaged in a simple card enclosure.

These tights feel really thick and soft but surprisingly are not overly heavy in weight. They are made from 93% Polyester and 7% Elastane. The inside of the tights is lined with a very soft fleece, that is very warm and comfortable on the skin.

The tights are very opaque; the fabric having a dense weave.

Seams flat throughout. Toes are reinforced and rounded.

The brief/panty has a rear comfort panel. The waistband is a 4cm wide. There is a reinforcement band running around the top of each thigh, so the tights are not completely sheer to waist. However, when worn this band is really invisible and can only be seen on close inspection.

Fit and sizing

The Silky 140 Denier Thermal Fleece Tights are available in four sizes: Small, Medium, Large and X Large. Not all colours are available in all sizes (see below).

Sizing information (Height):

Small: 4'10" - 5'6"
Medium: 5'0" - 5'8"
Large 5'6" - 5'10"
X Large 5'6" - 5'10"

I tested a pair in Large.

In terms of comfort, these were very nice tights to wear. Soft against the skin and warm without causing overheating. The brief/panty is generously proportioned and provided that extra space that is usually needed by a man.

Although the tights have plenty of stretch, I did find that they were pretty much extended to the limit of their length when worn by me. I am 5'10", yet the Large size only just fitted me. With a bit more length they would have been perfect.

However if you are smaller than 5'10" I would still go for the Large size rather than the Medium.

I discussed the size issue with Thighs the Limit and they feel that with my waist size (36") the X Large size would be a better choice and would fit better. They report that the Large size have been a good fit for men slightly taller than me.

Colour range

The Silky 140 Denier Thermal Fleece Tights are available in three shades: Black, Brown, Wine and Grey.

I tested a pair in Brown.

The Brown, Wine and Grey shades are available in Medium, Large and X Large only.

The Black colour is available in Small, Medium, Large and X Large.

Price and availability
The Silky 140 Denier Thermal Fleece Tights retail at Thighs the Limit for £8.00.

Conclusion
This is a really good product. I liked the dense opaque fabric, the fleece lining and the deep brief. These are great tights to wear as an additional thermal layer of insulation. They would definitely keep you much warmer than traditional long johns. For men working outdoors in very cold weather or engaged in outdoor sports and other activities, these tights would be ideal.

For me, the Large size was just slightly too short in length for me, which meant they felt a bit constricted in the upper thigh area. For my height and waist size the X Large size would probably be better, and I would go with that in the future.
